Ice Cream Machine

A bespoke device to produce ice cream in front  of each diner at restaurant Dinner by Heston Blumenthal. The result of a nine month collaboration between Sebastian Bergne, the Fat Duck Experimental Kitchen and Mike Smith Studio.

It is a blend of the historical and the contemporary, a cast iron fly wheel powers the machine where liquid nitrogen is used to make ice cream in seconds. Its bespoke Corian body is sleek, clean and reminiscent of a magician’s table.

Commissioned by Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, 2010
