These Candle Brick compositions use the bespoke brick created by Sebastian Bergne. They combine a number of bricks into fixed assemblies reminiscent of architectural fragments with the rough qualities of the building material and mortar. When brought into the home to illuminate your space they have a dramatic yet down to earth character.

This is part of a new studio edition by Sebastian Bergne and is the culmination of a period of research into this most sustainable and culturally rich building material. With Bergne’s distinctive approach, all versions of Candle Brick challenges what we consider to be humble or noble, for inside the home or outside construction.

Having started with the launch of the First Fifty in collaboration with The Art Design Lab. the remaining 450 of the edition of 500 bricks are now available unglazed, glazed or in fixed compositions. 

Each composition uses unglazed but sealed Candle Bricks that are combined using construction bonding agents and grey mortar. Each piece is assembled by Sebastian from these hand made unique bricks. The results follow defined arrangements but are never the less unique in the way they come together.

– No: 5 Assembly of 4 bricks overall size approx 21 x 24 x 24cm

– No: 6 Assembly of 6 bricks overall size approx 21 x 32 x 24cm

– No: 7 Assembly of 7 bricks overall size approx 25 x 24 x 16cm

– No: 10 Assembly of 2 bricks overall size approx 24 x 13 x 8cm

Please be reminded that all bricks and hand made. It is normal that there is variation in texture, colour and even slightly in size from the indications given here.
