Trauma Table made for Unbroken
A show-stopping exhibition of salvaged objects, saved from landfill and transformed by celebrated designers into one-of-a-kind creations. UnBroken is a call to action: to reconsider what we waste and to explore how thoughtful design can help shape a more sustainable future.
Nine acclaimed furniture designers were invited to reimagine a discarded object destined for landfill, turning them into beautifully crafted, functional works of art to be exhibited and auctioned during London Design Festival 2025. The team included 2LG Studio, Sebastian Bergne, Charlie Boyden, Francesco Feliziani, Andre Kong, Pearson Lloyd, Jaclyn Pappalardo and Studio Tipp.
Sebastian’s contribution to the Unbroken exhibition was Trauma Table.
“The rocking horse is such an iconic childhood object that my first thought was to make it more adult, something that belongs in our adult world but that links us to our childhood.
My process was to reassemble the wooden components in a different composition to become something new but with signs of that transformation clearly visible, a little like the process of aging.
The new table, with the dismembered horse reconfigured, has a character of its own, somewhere between humorous and traumatic. “
Trauma Table was awarded the ‘People’s Choice Award’ at Unbroken.
