Colourware

Colourware was inspired by the desire to challenge the traditional creative process and the use of colour as a starting point and key element in the finished object as opposed to a final surface treatment.

The result is a series of plates in various thicknesses of materials with inherent colour. As place settings they give creative flexibility to compose varied arrangements around or in the center of the table. When not in use, they form towers that can be enjoyed as sculptural compositions.

Colourware is a collaboration between Sophie Smallhorn and Sebastian Bergne, two very different creative individuals with compatible aesthetic values and a keen interest in colour. The collaboration presents a different way of approaching the design of objects that reflects a mutual desire to push boundaries and finds a common ground between two very different everyday working practices.
