Forest

Tapestries have always had a strong link with story telling and this project was a unique opportunity to explore a more lyrical approach to contemporary design, both in terms of content and the history of the ancient craft itself.

The forest is a place heavy with mystery, adventure and beauty. This notion has as much resonance today as it might have had hundreds of years ago and has come to represent what we treasure most about our planet, its nature.

This wall hung tapestry has been invisibly manipulated to float away from the wall and form a seat, adding a layer of magic and an opportunity to sit closely with someone in the forest and imagine what might be waiting on the other side.

Part of the collection “The Great Lady” The Tapestry of Aubusson.

Limited edition produced by Ymer & Malta with Atelier Bernet and commissioned by the Cité internationale de la tapisserie, Aubusson. 2020.
