Inaugural speaker, Madrid Design week

On February 17 at 7:30 PM, IED Madrid hosted the inaugural talk of Madrid Design PRO at its Gran Vía campus, marking the start of the Madrid Design Week program. The session featured Sebastian Bergne, a British industrial designer internationally recognised for his innovative and functional approach to everyday objects.

Throughout his career, he has developed lighting, furniture, kitchenware, and tableware projects for brands such as Luceplan, Pierre Frey, Tolix, Driade, Tefal, Muji, De Beers, and Vitra. His works have also been exhibited at leading institutions, including MOMA, New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Bergne’s intervention opens a space for reflection on design as a tool to rethink the everyday, explore new typologies, and question the boundaries between function, industry, and material culture.
